Same name, address, and phone everywhere
A stranger should see one firm. The name, the address, and the phone on Contact should match the footer and the listing they found in search.
What this is
NAP is the public name, address, and phone of the firm. Consistency means those three facts agree everywhere a stranger looks: the Contact page, the footer, the home page, your Maps listing, and organization schema if you publish a structured block.
The name is the name you answer to, not a slogan and not an old entity you merged away. The address is the place you want visits or mail to use. If you are remote, say so in the same words on each page, and do not invent a street you do not occupy. The phone is one number that reaches a person.
A second phone number is the usual leak. The header shows a mobile, the footer shows an old office line, and the schema shows a tracking number. To a stranger those are three firms. Organization schema is the sibling page for the structured note. This page is about the facts matching in public.
Why it matters for trust
People check the number on the site against the number on Maps before they call. When the digits differ, they hesitate. They wonder which one is current, and whether the other belongs to someone else. The same pause happens with the address and with a name that does not match the title of the page.
Consistency is also how you keep reviews and links attached to one firm. A listing under a shortened name and a site under the legal name drift apart. Pick the public name and use it in the title, the footer, the Contact heading, and the schema name field.
Update the old places when the facts change. A move, a new phone, or a rebrand should land on the same day everywhere you control: the site, the footer, the schema, and the profiles you have claimed. Leave an old number up only if it still forwards, and do not print it beside the new one as if both were main lines.
Do this
- Write down the one name, the one address, and the one phone. That is the card.
- Put that card on the Contact page in text. Repeat the phone, and the name, in the footer.
- Search the home page and Contact for any other phone number. Remove extras or make them forward and then delete them from the page.
- If you publish organization schema, set its name and telephone to the same strings. Add the address only when the same address is visible on the page.
- Open your Maps profile and match it to the card. Fix the website field so it uses your canonical host.
- After a redesign, read the footer again. New templates often keep a placeholder number.
How Free Trust Score treats this
The practical standard is that name, address, and phone agree on Contact, in the footer, and in schema when schema is present. Free Trust Score’s conflict check, on the pages it reads, compares phone numbers. One phone across the home page and the Contact page helps. More than one distinct phone number hurts.
The scan is counting phone numbers it can read in the text. It does not, by itself, diff two street addresses as a separate mark. Match the address anyway. A stranger compares it by eye, and a Maps listing will too. Schema name and URL are scored on the organization-schema page.
